Portraits... are hard

The first picture was just fun to do. I mean who doesn't like mustaches. I had to crop this photo a lot because i set in on the side table with the timer function so its a little centered. I did some light editing on both of the photos, mostly with hue/saturation and levels.
This second photo i tried to get them to look nice but he kept making faces and she kept getting mad. So I feel like the elbow nudge and look of disapproval captured the event.

layers and smart filters

Well i had the hardest time with the second photo. I couldn't get the mask to go away i kept erasing the whole layer. I just like this photo because originally when i tried to take this picture my dad blocked the camera with the apple. It has since been reenacted. The duck photo i think looks a little rigid but is still fun.

Flora and Fauna... Animals that is.

Finding these things in the middle of the winter was somewhat difficult to do. However to my great delight you can find these things all in the same place. The Benson building is full of this stuff. The colors were great and all i had to do was adjust the levels a little bit and the hue. They aren't the most interesting pictures, that is my only complaint really.

I thought this church was really cool. If it is even a church. I thought a canal bank was an odd place for worship but whatever. The sticks i cropped out of a big tree and thought it looked really cool to overlay like the tutorial taught. I typed over with a script type to give it the "Deep thoughts" kind of feel. I wrote serenity now because it seemed fitting and i am a huge Seinfeld fan.

The second two photos were taken a few minutes apart and I really liked the difference it made when it got darker and colder. I was out all afternoon trying to find a great shot of the Tetons and it was so bright it never worked really well. (more so because i often times dont know what i am doing.) As the sun set they really stuck out. In photoshop I adjusted the levels and the saturation. The last shot is in Heise I made the same adjustments to this except i pushed the saturation a little further to get the color and look I wanted.

Color study; red

1)shoes- 1/15, f5.6, my apartment in Rexburg, 01-09-10 Nikon D3000.
2)red ribbon- 1/25, f5.6, Idaho Falls, 01-06-10 Nikon D3000.

I felt like the color red was what I like to call a "pop" color. Using the different shades of red with different contrast really make it stand out more. I cropped the red shoes and changed the saturation levels after doing that the whites were brighter and the red deeper. The red ribbon is just a close up on a Christmas bow from the holidays. I like it because of the dark red shadows and pretty much because you wouldn't expect it to be a bow.

If I had to do this project again I would have used a different photo. Cutting around my friends hair turned out to be more difficult than I had originally expected. The photo was fun to take and more fun to make a floating head.
